In Changsha County, Hunan Province, the tea industry chain has been extended for integrated development. In 2022, the tea output of Changsha County was 42,000 tons, the processed dry tea was 80,000 tons, and the comprehensive output value of tea-related industries reached 4.8 billion yuan.

Tea growers and producers are not uncommon, but tea companies that sell tea making machinery and equipment are rare.

Xiangfeng Tea Group located in Jinjing Town sold over 500 million yuan of tea last year, ranking among the top in the province. The independently developed and produced tea making equipment had a sales revenue of over 200 million yuan.

“The tea making equipment is all customized, and the production of orders is scheduled till 2025,” said Tang Chenglin, the company’s chairman.

Why does it manufacture equipment? Many years ago, Xiangfeng introduced a fully automated production line, and the efficiency multiplied several times.

“As users, we have a better understanding of the needs of tea companies for tea making equipment. Why not develop our own?” Tang Chenglin said. After several years of efforts, tea making equipment manufacturing has become a business segment of Xiangfeng Group. “We want to make tea generate more added value.”

At Jiaoyang Tea Company of Kaihui Town, an executive said that in the past, the company only sold fresh leaves at a price of over ten yuan per 500 grams. Later, it cultivated a brand through processing tea not only, and it also helped others process tea leaves. The average price of the company’s tea exceeds 400 yuan per kilogram.

Now, there are more benefits created due to the Red tourism resources of Kaihui Town. This spring, the tea garden received more than 30 tourist groups, with an average direct consumption of 110 yuan per person.

The tea garden covering an area of 5,000 mu (about 333 hectares) in Jinjing Village. The head of Jinjing Tea Culture and Tourism Development Company Zhao Ling, walking hurriedly, said that there willl be another group of guests. She even didn’t have a day off in the first half of the year.

Last year, she paid 400,000 yuan to establish the village’s first tea culture and tourism company, which can allow tourists to attend many activities like tea leaf picking, tea art training and team building.
Zhao Ling said that the integration of tea and tourism has brought popularity and earned back investment in half a year.

In Changsha County, new business entities have became a new force to promote the integrated development of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries. Gaoqiao Yinfeng Tea produced in Gaoqiao Town was once well-known, but high costs and low profits caused by the traditional way of growing tea have restricted its development for many years.

Hunan Xiqing Agricultural Development Company, mainly engaged in the cultivation and sales of tea, vegetables, seedlings, and fruits, was introduced to Bailu Village, Gaoqiao Town.

The company focuses on high-end and high-quality tea and takes a new path of comprehensive development. Last year, the tea sales revenue exceeded 7 million yuan and the income from cultural tourism and homestay inns was nearly 1 million yuan.

A villager named Xiao Duanxiang has been working in the tea garden for most of his life, and now he serves as the director of the company's tea factory with a monthly salary of 6,000 yuan.

It is a must to form industrial clusters for integrated development of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries. Changsha County has made coordinated efforts to make overall planning, build scenic areas and improve facilities.

Kaihui Town is integrating Red tourism with the green tea industry. Now, when tourists mention Kaihui Town, they will think of tea and Red tourism.
